Chess Tournament Talamanca 2022

Children and teenagers between the ages of 8-16 near the remote area of Talamanca, Costa Rica were able to have a unique experience to participate in a local chess tournament. With the help of teachers from surrounding schools, our foundation was able to provide a unique opportunity for this indigenous community.

While there is a chess school with more than 100 players, very few are able to participate in sanctioned tournaments in large due to the high costs of traveling to the capital. Even with a “local” tournament many of them had to travel through boat to get to the bus stop where a private bus would take them to the tournament location.

It was an honor for our foundation to provide all the necessary accommodations to make this tournament a reality and for these children and young adults to have an unforgivable experience.
